MySCOUT

 

 

My.SCOUT is a new Scouting admin and online payment system that is similar to ParentPay and WisePay that you will be familiar with using for school trips and dinner money.

5th Farnham (Bourne) are excited to introduce our new online Scouting System My.SCOUT.
You will shortly receive an email invite to My.SCOUT. This email contains a secure link allowing you to access your child’s information. Only someone with that link can access your child’s information.
My.SCOUT allows parents to:

  • View the term’s programme
  • Decide which activities (such as camps or trips) your child will take part in, and notify their leaders;
  • See kit lists, dates, timings and other information about upcoming events and activities to help your child BE PREPARED;
  • Pay for subscriptions, events and activities through our secure payment provider, GoCardless;

Once you have clicked the link, you can take a look around My.SCOUT (initially there may not be much to look at whilst we are setting everything up).

Why are we using My.SCOUT?
In short we are using it to drastically decrease the amount of time our leaders spend on admin in respect of programme planning, record keeping, accounting and managing extra activities. In turn this should hopefully free up more leader time for organising “Scouty things” My.SCOUT means that parents are able to access more information about their child’s Scouting, and means that all of the information you need about activities or events is secure and accessible at any time. No more Scouts losing letters on the way home!

Because the system also sends out emails about activities and events to your registered email address, it means that we can cut down on the amount of paper letters and printing that we do.

Security
My.SCOUT is a part of Online Scout Manager which is used by most Scout Groups in the UK. The system has been designed from the start to be as secure as possible – and uses the same encryption and security methods as major banks and other secure websites.

When you make a payment through My.SCOUT, your payment details are processed securely by GoCardless, who are registered with the FSA and sponsored by Royal Bank of Scotland. All payments through My.SCOUT are protected by the Direct Debit Guarantee meaning that your money is protected by law at all times.

This part of the system is the real attraction of My.SCOUT for 5th Farnham (Bourne) Scout Group, it means that we can keep track of payments much more easily for each section and centrally. It will help our finances ESPECIALLY if parents ensure payments or donations are “Gift Aid” marked.
